I design and run enterprise operating systems: the operating model, the technology estate, the capital allocation, and the organization. The disciplines beneath that work, Theory of Constraints, Lean, and total quality, were learned physically, on the plant floors of a nine-figure manufacturing division, and have been applied to insurance and financial services ever since: distribution platforms at State Farm, a Top 25 Insurtech founded and led to a profitable exit, the strategy and data foundation for GM's insurance re-entry, and the enterprise operating model of Hagerty, where I serve as Chief Information Officer.
Alongside the operating record: doctoral research in knowledge transfer sustainability at Oklahoma State University, the MIT CTO Program (in progress), and trusteeship of Eureka College. I also design donated reading and knowledge-practice programs for community libraries, because the same discipline that moves an enterprise works with paper and thread.
Most firms report no measurable impact from AI while most firms use it. The binding constraint is organizational: knowledge transfer bandwidth, the conduit between what the organization knows and what its AI systems can act on. The conduit is designed, and designing it is leadership work.
